Registration for 2025 is Open!
FESTIVAL WEEKEND: Friday April 25 – Sunday April 27 2025, Central Canberra Painting Locations, Demonstrations and Presentations by Leon Holmes and Warwick Fuller
PRE-FESTIVAL PAINT OUT: Monday April 21 – Thursday April 24, A four day Pre-Festival Paint Out at scenic regional ACT locations
WORKSHOPS: Workshops will be held between 19 – 24 April in a variety of mediums. Go to the Workshops page for more details.
QUICK DRAW: The exciting 2 Hour Quick Draw competition will be held on the final day – Sunday April 27. If you can’t attend the full festival, this is a great introduction and you can register separately for just this event.
AWARDS AND PRIZES: Compete for prizes in Open, Non-Professional and Youth categories and a separate prize for the Quick Draw
ARTWORK SALES: Sell artwork to the public at your easel and on our “wet wall”

Want to volunteer at Capital Plein Air?
Volunteering at the festival is a rewarding way to contribute to the arts community, connect with others, and be part of a vibrant, collaborative experience. Whether you have artistic skills or not, your involvement is invaluable! Volunteers will have the chance to help with a variety of roles, from assisting artists to guiding visitors, all while enjoying the beauty of the outdoor setting and the creative energy of the event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet people, learn new skills, and play a key role in bringing this unique festival to life. Everyone is welcome, and no prior experience is needed—just a willingness to help and be part of something special!
